ZAXBY'S

I hope you have access to this restaurant because I think it is great. It is more like fast food with a casual dining setting and take-out window. But the quality of the food is more like a better restaurant. They have their own special dipping sauce for the chicken and it is very unique. Very smokey! They only have chicken because it is a chicken restaurant and they serve carrot and celery sticks on the side with the wings which is a great complement. Their specialty is chicken strips and wings. But today I am going to suggest "The House" salad with grilled chicken.
I usually get the honey mustard dressing to go with this but sometimes will change to ranch.
We first ate at Zaxby's while in Oxford Mississippi about 2004. When we moved back to Arkansas in 2006, we found that they had built one in Sherwood Arkansas and we visit there regularly along with the one located in Maumelle Arkansas.
I believe there are several around the central Arkansas area. The House salad is served with grilled Texas toast which is excellent but since I have been omitting bread from my diet, I fed this to the birds. They loved it too! I have tried most of their items and have loved them all so I give Zaxby's 5 GOLD STARS. Way to go Zaxby's!

SOY MILK COMPARISON

I recently found out; not all soy milk is the same. I have been using SILK for a while and thought one was just as good as the other...not too good, seeing how it is soy.
I guess I thought all soy milk was supposed to be bad, as long as it was half-way ok, I could get by. Well, they were out of SILK LITE VANILLA at the store this weekend so, I had to buy a different kind. I was pretty mad because I expected I would have to end up throwing it out. I wasn't optimistic!!! Well, low and behold! It turned out to be 100% BETTER than SILK. The product is 8th Continent Lite Vanilla. I use the "vanilla" to help the taste.
It actually tastes ALOT like real milk. It hardly tastes like a soy product at all. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I could even drink it out of a glass. If you can't get this brand where you live, I suggest trying several different kinds until you find one you like. Good Luck
I give 8th Continent 4 Gold Stars, great for a soy product!

It's DiGiorno!

It certainly ISN'T take out!!! My husband doesn't eat frozen pizza but he decided he wanted to try a DiGiorno since the commercial says it's like take-out. Well, I don't know where they are getting their take-out because IT IS NOT!!! Actually it was really BAD...he only ate a couple of pieces and couldn't eat any more. The canadian bacon was like shoe leather and there was so much sauce it was oozing out all over. The crust had a weird flavor. I normally like frozen pizza, even though I don't eat it very often, especially since the kids are grown and out of the house. There was not anything we liked about it, including the $5.75 price so I am giving it a big fat zero gold stars. If you don't agree with me, please let me know why...I would love a second opinion.

BURGER KING

I do love an occasional Burger King meal. From time to time it has been known to cause my stomach to hurt but the BK at the corner of Brookswood and Kiehl Ave. in Sherwood AR. has consistently produced GOOD food. Last week I ordered 2 small hamburgers (Not the Whopper) and large french fries. BK fries are some of the last good fast food fries around, in my opinion. The burgers were great...fresh and the fries HOT and crisp! Anyone on a budget would be happy, at only $4.16. I will give this meal 4 1/2 gold stars. Only because they didn't give me any ketchup after I had asked for some.

DIXIE CAFE REVIEW

It had been a while since our last visit to Dixie Cafe. I am a bigger fan than my hubbie but we went last night because it was my turn to pick the restaurant. I ordered grilled pork chops, fried okra and a baked potato. He ordered the chopped steak, mashed potatoes and pinto beans. Everything was really good, especially the pork chops. We had only 2 complaints: The rolls and corn muffins were not very warm and my hubbie felt he didn't get quite enough food to eat. He said that is his main gripe with Dixie. The young waitress was very nice and kept checking on us. It's a good atmosphere, not too noisy and not too cold. I give them 3 1/2 gold stars.

RED ROBIN REVIEW

We had our first experience at Red Robin restaurants, in Prescott Arizona. My hubbie and I both ordered the BBQ sandwich with garlic fries (see picture at top of this blog), cole slaw and diet cokes. Everything was great and the service just as good. The waitress was quite pleasant and helpful, even giving us directions to where we were going after leaving. The whole place was clean and cheery, including the restrooms.

I give them 4 1/2 stars, (the fries had a little too much salt and garlic). I will definitely visit Red Robin again if I see one. (I have never seen one in Arkansas).

Best Wendy's

In 2006 we experienced the absolute best Wendy's food we have had since at least 1980. You know, way back when fast food restaurants actually were in the business of pleasing the customer. We were passing through Gallup New Mexico, 22 miles from the Arizona border on Interstate 40. It was lunch time and we stopped to get a hamburger and stretch our legs. No stale, dried up or tasteless meat from these people. Hot, fresh, full of flavor, the hot juice running out, but not too much. All the lettuce and tomatoes etc were fresh and not skimped on along with hot, crisp fries. If I lived there and ate there all the time, I would be so spoiled, I would die if I ever had to eat food from a Wendy's in Arkansas. 95% of all the hamburgers I get here almost seem like fake meat that has been sitting under a warmer. I thought Wendy's motto was, fresh off the grill. I say 95% because a couple of months ago, I actually got a very decent Wendy's burger that was quite good. Fresh, hot and juicy just like they are supposed to be. It was at the Wendy's in Sherwood Arkansas, Hwy. 107 almost to Kiehl Ave. It was not really at regular meal time so I guess they cooked it fresh when I ordered.
I will give Wendy's an overall rating of 3 stars because you can still get a good burger occasionally but their fries are just plain"yucky". I guess we can blame healthy eating advocates for changing the deep frying oils for that one.
